Music Teaching

Private Lessons - Singing, Music Theory, and Music academic qualifications

Since 2009, Tara has run an incredibly successful teaching practice, taking in pupils who vary widely in range, age and ability. Tara greatly enjoys the variety, and caters for a wide range of needs; for people who want to sing for confidence or technique, to people who want to be coached on a certain piece. She is a young, friendly and confident teacher, who is expert in dealing with different needs and approaches for different voices and styles.

In addition to her own performance experiene, having worked as a secondary music teacher for 3 years, and as a musical director and vocal coach for stage schools for 6 years, Tara has a wealth of knowledge to impart to students. Tara has recently moved into teaching people with lung difficulties and COPD as she has a great interest in vocal anatomy and technique, and is undertaking training and teaching with staff from the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, who set up the incredibly influential 'Singing For Breathing' scheme in 2010, and with the British Lung Foundation.

Tara has a wide knowledge of repertoire, and is content coaching in all styles and genres; from classical (and grade exam repertoire), to musical theatre and pop. Students can be entered for the LCM, ABRSM and Trinity singing exams.

Previous and current students have gained places on musical theatre courses, choral scholarships to Oxford and Cambridge University, and consistent high marks in LCM, Trinity and Associated Board examinations up to Grade 8. Students have also well surpassed predicted grades for GCSE Music with Tara's expert tutelage.

Lessons cost from £40 an hour, and students can choose the length (30 mins, 45 mins or an hour). If the student is still in education, then payment is required termly in advance.
